Job Title: Guide
At Blackstone School – An Acton Academy, Guides are the heartbeat of our revolutionary, learner-driven environment. As part of a global movement with over 400 Acton Academies worldwide, our Guides empower students to take ownership of their education through personalized learning, Socratic dialogue, and immersive, real-world quests.
Role & Responsibilities: • Facilitate a dynamic, student-centered learning environment rather than delivering traditional lectures. • Inspire critical thinking and creativity through open-ended questioning and reflective dialogue. • Support students as they pursue individualized learning paths and tackle hands-on projects. • Mentor learners in developing independence, resilience, and a passion for lifelong learning. • Collaborate with fellow Guides and staff to continuously refine our innovative educational model. • Foster a culture of trust, respect, and curiosity that propels students to discover their true potential.
Qualifications: • A deep passion for innovative, student-driven education and a commitment to the Acton philosophy. • Proven experience in education, coaching, or mentoring—ideally within a non-traditional learning environment. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to build meaningful connections. • Creativity and flexibility to adapt teaching methods to suit each student’s unique needs. • A background in education or a related field is preferred, but a commitment to continuous learning and growth is essential.
